As part of the « Clean Industrial Deal, » the European Commission communicated to the European Parliament and the Council on February 26, 2025, its action plan for affordable energy (COM(2025)79).
For the record, On January 29, 2025, the Commission communicated a first communication to Parliament and the Commission entitled “A competitiveness Compass for the EU”, which, based on the Dragi report, defines an approach and a series of flagship measures to translate into concrete actions the three essential imperatives for regaining competitiveness: innovation, decarbonization and security.

The Commission’s communication of February 26, 2025 concerns the « clean industrial deal », the EU’s competitiveness and decarbonization plan.
This plan includes several elements:
– Make affordable energy available;
– Encourage demand for carbon-free products;
– Finance the clean transition;
– Promote the circularity of materials;
– Act on a global scale;
– Develop skills and quality jobs.
The Commission’s communication concerns the provision of affordable energy. The objective of this plan is to reduce the energy bill for businesses, industries and households and to promote a transition towards a carbon-free economy by accelerating the deployment of clean energies and accelerating electrification, by completing the European energy market through the interconnection of networks and by using energy more efficiently to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels.
